Clube social mais antigo em atividade em Ponta Grossa, o 13 se mantém graças ao esforço da liderança em manter a tradição

O Clube Literário e Recreativo 13 de Maio é o mais antigo clube social de Ponta Grossa e um dos poucos que ainda não foram totalmente extintos. Fundado em 1889 por um grupo de jovens negros um ano após a abolição da escravatura, O objetivo era integrar a população recém liberta, fazendo reuniões para eventos sociais, como concursos de beleza e bailes de carnaval.

Vera Laranjeira começou a frequentar o clube em 1982 e esteve na diretoria por mais de 30 anos, ao lado do marido e presidente  Rosilei Laranjeira, que faleceu em 2014. Ela relembra as atividades mais importantes que eram realizadas. “O carnaval era o carro-chefe. Também tinha torneios de futebol entre os clubes. Era o 13 contra o Lagoa, Ponta, Homens do Trabalho, Dante Aligheri. As datas mais importantes também eram a Festa da Primavera, Festa de Nossa Senhora Sant’Ana e Dia das Crianças”, cita.

História do 13 de maio se relaciona com a questão racial em Ponta Grossa

O jornalista Nilson de Paula, que desenvolveu seu trabalho de conclusão de curso e está fazendo sua dissertação de mestrado sobre o Clube 13 de Maio, conta que os frequentadores se reuniam ali porque não se sentiam bem vistos nos outros clubes. O 13 também recebia brancos, mas a recíproca não era verdadeira nas outras agremiações. “Não que sofressem preconceito fortíssimo, mas sempre olhavam de canto”, relata.

O pesquisador conta que outro exemplo da exclusão citada pelos antigos membros era o Concurso Rainha de Soja, que acontecia nas décadas de 60 e 70, no qual todos os clubes da cidade tinham uma representante. Mas ao olhar os jornais da época, não há registro de candidatas do Clube 13 de Maio, evidenciando uma exclusão na época. Nilson atenta sobre uma espécie de segregação naquela época. “Era possível ver que havia uma territorização em Ponta Grossa, onde ali era o clube dos brancos e no outro lado era dos negros”.

Ao ser questionado a respeito da história dos negros na cidade princesina, Nilson comentou que apesar de existir poucos registros sobre sua influência, eles foram os primeiros habitantes de Ponta Grossa. “Muito se fala da colonização européia, troperismo e dos ferroviários, e pouco se fala dos negros. Eles foram os primeiros habitantes da cidade, cuidavam das fazendas enquanto os donos ficavam mais em São Paulo. Mas quase não existe registro destes eventos”, diz

Outro marco na influência afro-brasileira em Ponta Grosa foi a fundação da Igreja do Rosário, no ínicio de 1869. Era frequentada por negros recém libertos e escravizados, já que na Catedral Santana eles não eram bem vistos pela sociedade da época. A Igreja do Rosário foi também o primeiro lugar onde essa parte da população teve acesso à escola.

Mesmo sem a intensidade de décadas anteriores, clube ainda está ativo

Vera Laranjeira também cita a persistência como diferencial do 13 em relação às outras agremiações. “Se não fosse ele (Rosilei) o clube já teria sido vendido há muitos anos. Foi a garra dele e o amor que ele começou a ter pelo clube o que fez com que ficasse em pé”, afirma, mencionando outras instituições antigas que foram vendidas ou fecharam as portas.

Atualmente, a instituição não tem atuação tão forte no movimento negro, espaço que é ocupado por grupos como o Instituto Sorriso Negro e a Sociedade Cacique Pena Branca, mas ainda se mantém alugando o espaço para eventos, que vão de festas universitárias a bailes de terceira idade. “O interessante do Clube 13 de Maio como entidade é o legado de persistência que ele deixa”, conclui Nilson.
