Segundo pesquisa realizada pelo Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE), no Brasil a taxa de desemprego atinge 12,4% da população trabalhista, sendo cerca de 13 milhões de brasileiros desempregados.
No Paraná houve queda no número de desempregados que passou de 10,3% para 8,9% da população, sendo cerca de 553 mil paranaenses.
Em Ponta Grossa o número de pessoas em busca de emprego ainda é grande e ultrapassa o número de vagas. Muitos candidatos às vagas de trabalho não se encaixam nos requisitos exigidos pelas empresas contratantes. Emily Cordeiro de 22 anos que está desempregada no momento fala que, “cada vez está mais difícil arrumar emprego, pois todos são necessárias experiências em diferentes áreas, sem falar nos cursos profissionalizantes”, e ressalta a dificuldade do primeiro emprego sem experiência .
Muitas pessoas estão procurando refúgio do desemprego abrindo seus próprios negócios. Segundo o Sebrae foram abertas 11,1 milhões de empresas nos últimos três anos. Há ainda aqueles que sobrevivem fazendo “bicos” para dar um reforço na renda mensal. Carolina Marques comenta que, “como estou desempregada a três meses eu tive que procurar outra maneira de conseguir dinheiro que é na venda de lingerie e cosméticos”. “O lucro não é muito grande, mas ajuda um pouco” relata Carolina Marques.
No meio da luta pelo emprego tem aqueles que estão à procura da sua primeira oportunidade, que acaba sendo muito difícil. Segundo o IBGE 28,8% dos jovens entre 18 e 24 anos, estão desempregados o equivalente a 4,3 milhões de pessoas, pois como não possuem experiência os contratantes acabam optando por pessoas que possuam, prejudicando ainda mais a vida destes jovens.
