No mês de outubro é realizada uma campanha de conscientização no mundo todo sobre a importância da prevenção do câncer de mama. Esta mobilização começou em 1990 em Nova York, a “corrida pela Cura” realizada pela Fundação Susan G. Komen o qual distribuíram um laço rosa, simbolizando as mulheres, e a partir deste ano o mundo abraçou a causa e vem demostrando a cada ano mas interesse.
No dia 5 de outubro, na cidade de Teixeira Soares, a Secretaria municipal de Saúde, realizou o evento “Outubro Rosa”. Atividade que marca o dia da conscientização e prevenção do câncer de mama e colo uterino. Aproximadamente 200 mulheres do município participaram do evento.
Entre as atividades realizadas, as participantes puderam assitir palestras sobre prevenção câncer de colo uterino e de mama e sobre a importância do alongamento motivando as mulheres a praticar exercício físico no seu cotidiano.
Organizadora do evento há três anos, a enfermeira Marize Emiliano de Moraes afirma que a conscientização sobre a prevenção da doença vem aumentado a cada ano. ‘Ano passado superamos a meta rapidamente e este ano nossa meta é conseguir coletar o exame preventivo de mais de 200 mulheres com idade entre 25 e 75 anos’.
