Crônica: De olarias para um parque com lago

Ahh, o domingo no parque. Principalmente se estiver lindo, belo, formoso e com um sol escaldante sobre nossas cabeças. Interessante pensar que, até bem pouco tempo, os ponta-grossenses não tinham um lugar grande, um gramado verdinho e exuberante para jogar um lençol velho, sentar e simplesmente não fazer nada. O que tínhamos era o ambíguo Parque Ambiental, onde o cinza e branco das calçadas contrastam com as poucas árvores do local. Revolucionário nos idos de 1993, impensável nos dias atuais. Até que tudo mudou! Depois de uma longa e desacreditada espera, por fim, foi inaugurado o ‘Lago de Olarias’.

Lágrimas em alguns olhos marejados, os típicos tapinhas nas costas de ‘muuuuito beeeem’, e os pais! Quantos pais! Quase que incontáveis! Daqueles que surgiram das profundezas e vieram até a cidade para a assinar a inauguração do Parque. Fotos, fotos, fotos! Era um dia quente, já outono, em março de 2019, que chegava ao fim parte de uma novela (que poderia ser ‘Pedra Sobre Pedra’) iniciada lá em 1997, quando há quem jure que houve a primeira licitação.

Foram vinte e dois anos para que somente um, dos cinco previstos, ficasse pronto. Dizem que até houve obra neste começo, mas que foram paralisadas em 2004, depois das eleições municipais. “Ah, para, Pedro, Pedro, para!”. Enquanto aguardavam a retomada, dizem as más línguas que o sorriso dos moradores da região foi ficando cada vez mais incrédulo com um final, já que a obra também ajudaria na contenção de enchentes do córrego de Olarias e na mobilidade urbana da região, com ligações interbairros. Um bairro conhecido por estar presente em tantas obras pela cidade, sem obras. Ora essa, destino!

Sim, jovens. O bairro de Olarias não tem esse nome por acaso. Ponto para você que achou que existiam olarias na região! Até os anos 30, o local era praticamente desabitado. Depois ganhou a famosa olaria do Ribas, que deu início a uma nova era na região. Surgiram tantas que ficou quase impossível de contar. E assim o bairro começou a ganhar vida e moradores. Tijolos, telhas, máquinas, manilhas e muito barro transformaram a região em mais de meio século de atividade oleiras. Foi por volta dos anos 70 que a atividade começou a cair e aí vieram as indústrias, ou você nunca se perguntou quem seria o famoso Wagner, que tem o nome pintado naquela chaminé famosa de PG? Um bairro tão próximo do centro, ligação entre tantos outros, com histórias sem fim a serem contadas, que mereceria um livro apenas sobre ele.

Bairro que passou a ser frequentado por gente de todos os lugares, com o novo parque. Seja descendo pela Rua dos Operários, vindo pelo Jardim Europa ou ainda cruzando a Vila Santana, lá está ele. Imponente. Um dos cinco lagos, que hão de sair do papel um dia! Margem de caminhadas, academia ao ar livre, um bate-bola com a galera no gramado, muitos patinadores e pets de todos os tamanhos, cores, raças e humores. Até as famosas capivaras do Parque Barigui foram ‘clonadas’ por aqui. Eram duas, até que uma não aguentou a pressão. Ficou a Marivalda – carinhosamente apelidada por mim. Que tudo olha, tudo vê e tudo sabe por ali.

Curioso mesmo é o investimento feito para que tudo isso saísse do papel. Milhões? Sem dúvida. Cerca de 30 deles, segundo fontes oficiais. Mas com uma injeção de verbas aos conta-gotas durante todos estes anos, ficou difícil um número exato. Seria um verdadeiro caça ao tesouro, afinal, nunca se sabe em qual parte do lago piratas podem ter enterrado o baú. É a velha história de que eu não acredito em bruxas, mas que elas existem, existem!

Ahh, o domingo no parque. Apesar de uma população carente de saúde, educação, segurança pública, saneamento básico e cultura, está aí. Com tantos percalços da vida, é para lá que muita gente vai para terminar a semana. Ar puro, estacionamentos lotados, crianças gritando e o sossego de quem só espera o vendedor de pipoca passar: ‘Vai uma aí, chefe?’ Aceito, obrigado.
