A Associação de Pais e Amigos do Deficiente Visual (APADEVI), foi fundada em 22 de novembro de 1985 por Célia Gonçalves de Oliveira Taques, Avanir de Castro Savi, Mario Gomes Junior, entre outras pessoas para compor a direção.

O objetivo da instituição é prestar atendimentos a pessoas com deficiência visual (baixa visão e cegos).
Com o aumento da demanda, atualmente são disponibilizados mais atendimentos e mais atividades para melhor atender e sanar as dificuldades e necessidades dos alunes/usuários.
A instituição oferece serviços como avaliação, serviço social, atendimento psicológico, encaminhamento e acompanhamento a oftalmologistas, atendimento aos familiares, grupo de voluntários, entre outros.
Os usuários matriculados na instituição realizam atividades como Ensino de Braille; Ensino de Soroban; Informática Adaptada; Estimulação precoce; Orientação e Mobilidade; Reeducação Visual, entre outras diversas atividades.
Além do profissionalismo os funcionários trabalham com muito carinho. Em entrevista a Assistente Social e Responsável técnica Regina Rosa Pedroso conta como se sente com o trabalho realizado na APADEVI.
“Esses dias eu parei para pensar, é muito gratificante quando você para e pensa a caminhada que você teve até aqui, pois você entrou de um jeito e eu já conquistei alguns conhecimentos; Até mesmo a segurança que o usuário tem em me procurar, então o meu sentimento é de satisfação, a cada vez que eu escuto um depoimento de um usuário eu tenho a sensação de dever cumprido”, diz Regina.
