A sombria, misteriosa e encantadora Gotham

Olá, leitores do Nova Pauta. Aqui quem vos fala sou eu, Igor Leal. Hoje vamos falar sobre uma série que está tirando minhas noites de sono. Estou falando de Gotham. A produção surgiu nas telinhas em 2014 e estreará sua quarta temporada em setembro, na Fox. Para quem ama o James Gordon, a série é feita para você, pois o foco principal da história são as investigações feitas pelo detetive e seu parceiro Harvey Bullock, além, é claro, de sua insaciável sede em resolver o caso da morte dos Wayne.  

 Mas ele não é o único personagem que brilha na série. A história por trás da origem dos vilões do Batman é realmente instigante. Destaco aqui o personagem Pinguim que se mostrou ser um dos antagônicos mais habilidosos do Morcego das Trevas. Sua história está ligada a uma traição, fazendo seu caminho se entrelaçar com o do James. 

 Por falar nesta traição, abro aqui o espaço perfeito para falar de Fish Mooney, que brilha com tanta perversidade. Ela é mais do que um pé no saco. Sua ambição é tão grande que ela não mede esforços para passar por cima de Don Falconi, um dos homens mais poderosos da máfia da cidade. Ela faz de tudo para conseguir aquilo que tanto deseja: ser a “dona” da cidade. Jada Pinkett Smith dá vida à personagem criada especialmente para série e merece honra ao mérito pela sua interpretação impecável.

Mas eles não são os únicos personagens que tem destaque na série. Selina Kyle, nossa Mulher-Gato ainda é uma menina e é a única que pode ajudar Gordon a encontrar o verdadeiro assassino dos pais de Bruce. E o charada? O garoto trabalha junto com Gordon e Bullock e, para mim, é um dos personagens mais engraçados da série. 

 Podemos dizer que Gotham é uma série baseada em histórias em quadrinhos, mas não é uma produção se super-heróis. Os vilões se destacam e a história tem um tom estilo “poderoso chefão”, com duas famílias da máfia brigando pelo poder na cidade: os Maroni e os Falconi. Sabe o que é mais legal? Realmente o Maroni é um insuportável, mas é difícil não gostar do Falconi. Ele parece aquele típico senhor italiano que curte uma boa música e um bom vinho e que na hora de matar, faz isso escutando ópera. Realmente é épico! 

 James Gordon está no meio dessas duas “potências” que dominam a cidade e o próprio departamento de polícia. Mas o que diferencia o personagem do resto dos policiais? Simples! Ele não dança conforme a música. Ele se mantém íntegro e está disposto a trazer o remédio que cura a doença de Gotham. Já no primeiro episódio, ele é incumbido de matar Pinguim, mas poupa sua vida o que gera grandes problemas para ele no futuro. 

 Não posso deixar de falar dela, Leslei Thompkis, a namorada de Gordon. Confesso a vocês que ainda tenho minhas ressalvas quanto ao relacionamento dos dois. A brasileira Morena Baccarin interpreta muito bem a personagem e os dois até formam um belo casal, mas falta certa química. James executa tão bem seu trabalho que vive por ele e parece não dar a mínima para a ela. O relacionamento parece forçado, ele não demonstra estar feliz. A sensação que dá é que os dois estão juntos por estarem, não há um futuro, ou pelo menos isso não é bem representado. Ainda acho que a relação pessoal dos dois poderia ser mais bem explorada. 

E o Bruce, gente? Ele ainda é aquela criança traumatizada pela morte dos pais. O legal que a maneira que o personagem foi explorado é um pouco diferente do que eu esperava. O menino dos quadrinhos se torturou muito após a morte dos pais, mas o da série correu atrás de respostas e se mostrou forte, o que tornou o personagem fantástico. Além do mais, sua relação com Alfred é essencial e mostra como o mordomo sempre foi parceiro do morcego.

No meio de toda essa história, ainda tem os curiosos casos que precisam ser investigados por Bullock e Gordon que traduzem muito bem a essência do universo Batman: a loucura. Assassinos possuídos pelo “espírito do bode”, drogas que te transformam em um super-humano e depois te matam e, o meu preferido, o homem-balão, que prende corruptos em balões de ar. 

Enfim, Gotham começa tímida, mas com muita paciência você vai se apaixonar. Então, que tal começar hoje mesmo? A Netflix já disponibiliza duas temporadas da série.
