Na última década o e-sports passou por um grande crescimento, quase que previsível para conseguir acompanhar as tendências de comportamento de uma geração que cresceu com acesso a internet. No entanto não se imaginava que o e-sports se tornaria um mercado capaz de lucrar milhões.

De acordo com a empresa de pesquisa de mercado SuperData, que divulga anualmente o faturamento do e-sports, em 2017 o faturamento foi de US$ 1,5 bilhão, chegando a US$ 1,9 bilhão em 2020 com previsão de US$ 2,3 bilhões em 2022.

Apesar do financiamento coletivo para torneios ajudarem a aumentar esse faturamento, a SuperData afirma que a maior parte veio mesmo da venda de produtos relacionados aos jogos, de franquias para equipes disputarem torneios e do patrocínio.

Os líderes deste mercado são os gigantes League of Legends (LoL) e Dota 2, com o primeiro registrando 84 milhões de jogadores mensalmente, enquanto o segundo atrai mais de 10 milhões. Já em relação às plataformas mais utilizadas para as pessoas acompanharem as partidas, também não é surpresa ver que o Twitch e o YouTube dominam, já alcançando o Facebook.

Para Elielson Guirado (26), que joga LoL há 11 anos e faz parte destes milhões de jogadores, a expectativa e que esse número aumente ainda mais. “Os números mostram que esta aumentando a cada ano”, comemora ele.

Atualmente o cenário do LoL brasileiro passou a seguir o formato de outras ligas pelo mundo, passando para um sistema de franquias. “Isso tem seus dois lados. O bom porque não terá problemas para contratar jogadores, por outro lado diminui as chances de equipes menores participarem do campeonato”, finaliza Elielson.

SUCESSO BRASILEIRO NO E-SPORTS

paiNGaming – LoL

A grande atração do Campeonato Brasileiro de LeagueofLegends (CBLoL) na temporada 2020 foi a paiNGaming. Depois de repatriar Felipe Gonçalves, o “brTT”, o time foi o favorito para a primeira etapa do CBLoL, porém quem acabou levando o título do campeonato foi a INTZ.

Corinthians – FreeFire

No cenário de e-sports mobile brasileiro, a equipe que deu o que falar no final de 2019 foi o jovem time do Corinthians de FreeFire. Os brasileiros conquistaram o Mundial de FreeFire, realizado em novembro no Rio de Janeiro, além disso, Nobru, um de seus integrantes, foi eleito MVP (jogador de melhor desempenho na competição) do torneio.

FURIA – CS:GO

A FURIA (CS:GO) se destacou no cenário internacional em 2019, os “Panteras” conseguiram bons resultados em solo estrangeiro, onde disputaram diversos campeonatos de alto nível como o tradicional ESL OneCologne.
